COMMUNITY, FAMILY,
CULTURE, CONNECTIONS
816 Day was established in 2017 to honor the vibrant people, culture, and community of Kansas City, Missouri. Held annually on August 16th in the Power & Light District and the historic 18th & Vine district, the event has grown into one of the city’s largest and most anticipated celebrations.

816 DAY IN KCMO
The idea of 816 DAY originated from a Facebook post where someone asked why we didn't have a special day like other big cities. I decided to make it happen and organized the first unofficial celebration at KC Jukehouse in 2017.

816 DAY was the spark to the popular "KC Where You At" Facebook Group currently boasting more than 36,000 members.
WHAT IS ..
816 Day Like?
816 Day is like Kansas City's ultimate block party—where the whole city comes alive with pride, flavor, and hometown soul. Imagine strolling through the historic 18th & Vine district, shopping from local vendors selling everything from handmade goods to KC streetwear, while live DJs and bands set the vibe with music that makes you want to move. Around every corner, there's something to experience—street dancers, spoken word artists, food trucks serving up KC favorites, kids laughing in the play zone, and people of all ages soaking in the celebration. It’s not just an event—it’s a vibrant, soul-filled gathering where the community comes together to uplift each other, support local, and show out for the city we love. If you’ve never been, just know—816 Day *feels* like Kansas City.
